Indoor Concrete Countertops in Abbotsford

An indoor concrete countertop is a custom-cast surface in a kitchen, bath or bar that does what stone does, but on your design, in your color, with your edge profile. Abbotsford Concrete casts indoor countertops in two ways, in place on the cabinetry, or shop-cast and installed once cured. Both get sealed for food-safe daily use and built to match the rest of your interior. Every project starts with a free written estimate.

Cast vs stone

What Indoor Concrete Countertops Are Really Good For

Concrete countertops are not trying to be stone. They are trying to be the surface you cannot get any other way, custom shape, custom color, custom edge, custom inlays, integrated drainboards and apron sinks. If you want flat slabs of natural material, stone is the answer; if you want a tailored surface with character, that is concrete's job. The same custom-cast logic shows up in our countertop service hub.

Indoor countertops are cast in two ways depending on the situation. Cast-in-place means the form is built on top of the cabinets, the concrete is poured, ground and polished in the kitchen itself; useful for long, integrated runs and seamless drainboards. Shop-cast means the slab is made flat in our facility, cured fully, and installed in pieces; useful when the kitchen needs to stay clean during the build.

We coordinate with the rest of the residential work and with adjacent outdoor concrete countertops when the homeowner wants matching indoor and outdoor surfaces.

How it works

How We Cast Indoor Countertops in Abbotsford

  1. Template the kitchen surface

We template the cabinets or bath cabinetry with you, confirm every dimension, every cutout for sinks, faucets and cooktops, the edge profile, the color sample, and lock the design before any form goes up.

  2. Form and reinforce the casting

Forms are built to the template, with the chosen edge profile inverted on the bottom for cast-in-place or the top for shop-cast. Reinforcement is added at the right depth, color is added to the mix, and any inlays are placed.

  3. Cast and grind smooth

Concrete is placed and consolidated, allowed to cure to the schedule, then the surface is ground, honed and polished to the finish level chosen, matte, satin, or higher gloss.

  4. Seal for food-safe use

The countertop is sealed with a food-safe sealer rated for indoor kitchen use, and a maintenance schedule (re-seal every few years) is left with you so the countertop performs for the long run.

Daily use realities

Concrete Counters Live a Real Kitchen Life

Indoor concrete countertops are working surfaces, not display pieces. They take hot pans, knives, spills and the daily wear of a real kitchen. Sealed properly and re-sealed on the schedule, they handle that without staining; ignored, even the best concrete top can pick up a coffee ring. The behavior matters as much as the spec for any concrete countertop we cast.

We are straight about that on every project. Counters that go into busy kitchens get a different sealer recommendation than counters in a guest bath. The maintenance is light but real, and the quote includes the long-term plan, not just the install, matching how we handle every residential concrete install.

Common questions

Indoor Concrete Countertop Questions, Answered

Cast-in-place vs shop-cast, sealers, food-safety, maintenance and edge profiles.

Cast-in-place is best for long integrated runs, integrated drainboards and seamless looks; shop-cast is best when the kitchen has to stay clean during construction and the pieces can be lifted into place. We recommend based on your kitchen and timeline.
Yes, when sealed with a food-safe sealer rated for kitchen use and maintained on the recommended re-seal schedule. Concrete itself is inert; the sealer is what stands between the surface and the spills, and it is what gets refreshed every few years.
Properly designed and cured concrete countertops do not crack in normal use. We engineer reinforcement and joints for the size and use of each top; hairline crazing in the surface is a normal characteristic of concrete and part of the look, not a structural issue.
Yes. Custom edge profiles (square, eased, ogee), inlays (glass, stone, wood), and integrated cast-in sinks are all options. Most of what makes a custom concrete countertop worth choosing over stone is the ability to do those things.
From template to install is typically several weeks because casting and curing are time-bound; the in-kitchen disruption itself is shorter, often just install day for shop-cast or a few days for cast-in-place. Full timeline is on the quote.

Cast-in-place island with an integrated drainboard. Could not have gotten this in stone. Honed finish, integral color, sealed beautifully. The kitchen now has its centerpiece.

Shop-cast vanity with an integrated basin. They templated, cast offsite, installed clean, sealed it. Bath now feels custom in the best way. Maintenance plan was clear up front.

Honest that concrete tops need re-sealing every few years and counted that into the quote. Better than pretending it would never need any care. The counter still looks new after two years.

Custom edge profile that matched our cabinetry detail exactly. Could not get that anywhere else. The kitchen looks designed, not assembled. Worth every dollar.
